This blog compiles some notes and observations from one average guy's journey of life, faith and thought, along with some harvests from my reading (both on-line and in print). Learning to follow Jesus is a journey; come join me on the never-ending adventure!
Dear Barry, I agree! Jesus told his disciple to "Let your Light so shine..." I don't believe that God wants us to hit our friends, neighbors and strangers over the head with our handy dandy Bible! We don't have to yell at them ar talk with a big booming voice. How does God talk to us? Rarely does he use the 'loud thunder clap' to get our attention, Rarely does he use the 'mighty whirlwind' to bring HIS message home. He grabs our attention by using a soft still voice. sure a lot of times we miss it due to our busy-ness, our loud and attention grabbing activities. But by persistantly speaking to us with HIS soft small still voice. Once we have heard it, the quest becomes ours. What was it that I just heard; we ask ourselves. We slow down and try to echo locate the sound. Where is it coming from. The more we try to locate the sound of His voice...the louder it becomes. Bbut not loud as in shoutiing, but loud as if someone has turned the volume up. We don't need to tell our friends, neighbors and strangers that they are sinners. I believe we already know that, and when we finally hear the Voice of God. That very act of hearing Him call us...(That) is the confirmation. that is the ticket to our understanding that we are sinners. There it is (!) The Truth: We are sinners, and the Only Hope is for us to turn to HIM who calls our name. Our Friends and neighbors and even strangers are not blind to how we live our lives. They see how we handle different situations. If we treat everyone as a child of the KING or equally, our friends and so on will know the who and the what...they will want to know more. There is that Open Door and all we have to do is go in and 'sup' with them as it were. Just like Christ does with us. FAY
Barry, thanks for the link. Funny, that post got hit right away by hardline people, some who even questioned my salvation. Only now are others like you starting to share it. Thanks!
