One of my earliest childhood memories is dressing up for a school play on the celebration of holidays. I had to represent Labor Day. My mother got me a cap and work shirt, and I stood on stage holding a shovel. What an acting job!
I did two summers doing manual labor during college days. I spent the summer of 1975 working in a concrete yard cutting and bending steel re-bar. In 1976 I loaded and unloaded moving vans 12 hours a day all summer. Hats off to all the men (and women) who do stuff like that all the time.
